On Tuesday July 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant House in Anchorage Governor Bill Walker, and the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development will join the NFL’s 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year Thomas Davis, Seattle Seahawks All Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union and Visa Inc. to tackle head on the issue of financial literacy improvement among teens in the Land of the Midnight Sun. They plan to announce a statewide effort to improve the money-management skills of Alaska’s youth with Financial Football, a free educational video game and classroom curriculum developed by the NFL and Visa Inc. The game is being distributed by the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development to nonprofits, middle schools and high schools across Alaska.
The centerpiece of Alaska’s financial education initiative with Visa, the NFL, and NFL PLAYERS, Financial Football helps students and adults tackle their financial futures. The launch of this multi-layer program will include an online component for all Alaskans and DVDs with additional teaching resources, which will be provided to each school and various community organizations throughout the state.

Panthers Linebacker Thomas Davis and Seahawks Linebacker Bobby Wagner join Governor Bill Walker, Education Commissioner Michael Hanley, and representatives from Alaska USA and Visa for an event launching Financial Football statewide.
VISUALS:
As part of this event Gov. Walker, Commissioner Hanley, and Davis and Wagner will coach the students, divided into teams, in a high energy game of Financial Football projected onto a big screen at the front of the room.
